International Students

We welcome international students to our school. Students from all over the world join our school for varying periods of time - some for just a month, others for more than two years. We also host group visits. Accommodation can be arranged in supervised home stays. 	Thames High School is one of New Zealand's oldest secondary schools and has been offering quality education for over 125 years. Approximately 680 students from Year 9 to Year 13 attend Thames High, which has a proud academic record and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities.
It is the only fully secondary school on the Coromandel Peninsula and therefore offers a wider and more comprehensive curriculum. All International students are guaranteed specialised tuition by well qualified ESOL teachers, and also have access to intranet as well internet facilities in a well resourced ICT Department. Free music tuition is available for most instruments and the school boasts a small but rapidly growing orchestra as well as a rock band sector. The school participates and excels in many sporting codes and the top-class sporting facilities are accessible and near to the school.
	Thames itself is a thriving community of 7,000 people and is the service centre as well as the gateway to the Coromandel Penisula. It is located only one hour's drive from Auckland International Airport. The town is situated in exquisitely beautiful surroundings of forests, mountains and sea.
The annual tuition fee is NZ$10,400 plus a $500 admin fee. Home stay accommodation (full board - all food plus laundry) can be arranged for NZ$230 per week.  The international student levy (approximately NZ$420 per annum) is also the responsibility of the student.  Please refer to our information booklet for more information.
